LF8 Silver Electric Bicycle
Product Description
Our model LF8 electric bike uses a lithium battery pack and powerful compact motor that make this folding bike lightweight. The LF8 is easy to fold and unfold and is not prone to bike damage or broken wires like other heavier folding bikes. There is a support in the center of the bike that holds the bike upright while folding. When you pedal, the pedal assist kicks in. You can twist the throttle at any time and just keep going on level ground without pedaling. Our 250 watt motor is more powerful than most other folding bikes.

I ordered this bike in June 2011 and was impressed that it was sent out the same day and received the shipping and tracking information by email.Since the bike comes in a big, heavy box it was not shipped with the usual carriers but by a private shipping company. A couple of days letter, the carrier called me and arranged for delivery.I bought several folding bikes before, and they all came pre-assembled, so I was in for a bit of a surprise that this bike came semi-assembled. It took me about 1 hour to put everything together.Unfortunately, the included manual was no big help, since its basically was written for another type of bike and not for the folding bike: LF8. Also, you better have some basic tools at hand, since there are none included.Excuse my griping here, but I was a bit put off by that, since there was no mentioning on the web site that the bike comes only partially assembled. Here is what you have to do: affix the front wheel including the disk brake, attach the paddles, screw in the front fender. This does not seem much, but it took me about 1 hour to accomplish this. I don't mind the work, but what I did mind was the lack of help in the manual to do it 100% correct. Here comes the good part: when I emailed the company with questions, I got help immediately. Now to the bike itself: it's heavy! The workmanship seems to be done very well. It's actually one very good looking bike! The silver and black combination has a nice appeal and some people actually turn around to take a second look. The lithium battery comes in a solid aluminum housing with a key to turn on the electric circuit as well as locking the battery to the frame. This bike is finally ready for the first test run. Up to this point, it was pretty much work and yes, some frustrations. You use the control switch to turn on the electronic, which takes aabout 2 seconds to kick in.The bike has 3 drive settings: low, medium and high. The default is medium. After about 3 pedal rotations, the pedal assist kick in and the thrill starts. It is really amazing how powerful that small motor, located in the back wheel, really is.For the first run I used mostly the low setting. Not knowing on how fast the battery drains, I was very carful and went onto my first ride of about 5 miles. I live close to the coast, so there is always some headwind which makes regular biking sometimes a bit harder. However, with the help of the electric motor of the LF8, it was no problem. The route has 2 inclines of about 200 yards with 4% which were handled with no problem by the bike.Coming back home from the 5 mile trip, on the low setting, it did not seem to make a serious hit on the battery. All 4 battery bars were still lit, as well as the 3 test LED's on the battery itself, indicating it is still full.Next day, I ventured out on a 15 mile trip which impressed me even more about the quality of the bike as well as the powerful motor. I used it on a pretty steep hill, and you have to learn on how to handle it. The motor is not strong enough to just sit there and wait to be pushed up the hill. It does need some assistance and watch the power meter on the control to see how much help it needs.Since writing this review, I put about 200 miles on the bike and I am overall very happy with it. The battery life is actually pretty amazing. I always use it on the middle setting and get app. 25 miles per charge.Pros:Good workmanshipExcellent battery lifeLots of power with pedal assistance as well as on demand powerCons:Much heavier then expected.Hard to pedal without power assistanceIncluded seat post too short for people taller 6'
