5Excellent Bike
By cahjk
This has been a great purchase for my 14 year old of course my husband and I enjoy it too. I expected a little whine like the little kid power wheels but this bike is very quiet. The only issue we have had with the bike was when we got the bike the charger was set wrong so the bike didn't charge. We contacted x-treme and they helped us over the phone. This has been a great value. If you have a child who can't drive yet but has places to be this is great for them or if you like the feeling of a scooter but not the cost this electric bike does the trick. We estimate this bike to go 35-40 miles on a charge if you don't use the headlights. We are not sure how far with the headlights. We believe they do drain the battery a little faster but we haven't check the distance using the headlights the whole time. My family loves this bike. Why didn't they make cool stuff like this when I was a kid? I am so jealous of my daughter.

4Nice scooter
By Paul
I just got the X-Treme scooter today and drove it about five miles - so far I love it and am excited. It was delivered a day ahead of Amazon's estimated delivery date - nice. The bike is bigger then I expected, it's a full size moped. The pedals are a joke and very awkward to actually pedal. I only installed them in case I ever get pulled over by an officer while on a side walk - "...look officer, it's a bicycle..."Assembly took a solid 1.5 hours including unpacking. The packaging was a nightmare, not sure how I'm going to dispose of the metal structure used to hold it inside the box - guess I'll have to cut it up to fit in the recycling bin. It came with all the necessary tools for assembly but I found it helpful to use some of my own - a 10mm & 14mm socket and ratchet, a short shaft phillips screw driver, and a 16mm wrench if you intend to put the pedals on.The battery came fully charged. The instructions said to charge the battery before use but when I tried to charge the charger's green light came on within a few minutes indicating a full charge. You should note the charger came set to work off of 220 volts so I switched it before plugging it in - this was not noted anywhere in the instructions.I weigh nearly ~280lbs so I was worried about the speed I'd be able to achieve. With a full charge I was able to maintain about 27mph even on very slight inclines less then a 1% grade and down hill the needle went right up to the red line at 30mph. On a steeper hill, maybe a three or four percent grade I slowed to about 17 or 18 MPH. Ride quality is good, almost didn't even pay attention to it accept that I knew I'd want to write a review.I took a star off of my overall review only because the speedometer is in KPH first then MPH Second making the MPH numbers hard to read and impossible at night since only KPH is illuminated. Also the pedal design is little more then a legal requirement I was hoping to augment the electric motor so I could get a little more speed and even a little exercise in but this is not reasonably possible.Bottom line, I'm glad I bought it, even happier that I caught it on sale. I'll post another review after some time of ownership if there is any major issues.July 2011 Update: It seems I can't provide a link through Amazon's review editor but I can tell you I placed a video review on youtube under the user name MrLexus1977 titled Electric scooter XB700-Li. Basically in the video I just do a walk around and some shots while riding it so you can hear the little electric motor and the wind noise. As others have stated there is no warning for a dead battery, it just goes out. I've done as much as 30 miles on one charge and as few as 12. The main factor here in South Texas seems to be the heat. Still love it and wish I had more opportunities to ride it.

This scooter performs ok, but the range is far less than advertised. My 115 lb. wife uses the scooter. She needs to recharge it about every 10 miles, which means every day. She also found out the hard way that when the battery goes dead, it gives no warning. There's a "gas gauge" on the scooter, but it reads as fully charged until seconds before it gives out.The pedals are just for show. They're utterly useless except as a clue to the police that this is a "bicycle." The position and stroke length of the pedals render them unusable by all except for maybe Lance Armstrong. I'm sure the makers never intended anyone to actually try to pedal it.This scooter would be very acceptable on level ground, but it really can't handle much of an incline. All in all, it's a useful vehicle for anyone who lacks a driver's license or doesn't want to pay for insurance. For all others, you really should spring for a more powerful model.
