This bike is for the conservative rider who likes the safe bike color. Black is the safest color now that Beige and Taupe didn't make the cut. But we did have to add the red rims, or the green ones, just to show people you can have a bit of rebel in you, with or without, you know, the cause. The balloon tires with this bike are awesome, but we think every bike should go balloon or never go back.

OK, so you can see in the Tire/Seat Package options that the balloon upgrades available for Pedego bikes make the bike look different - and cost more! But what's the big deal? The balloon upgrade is distinguished by hand-stitched, padded hand grips; a padded suspension seat; and Schwalbe "Fat Frank" tires. The tires have Schwalbe Kevlar Guard built in to help prevent flats. So the balloon upgrade gives you incredible looks and superior performance as well.

A Real Joy

Pedego is sort of the Apple computer of electric bicycles. Everything is designed to work together beautifully. The components are all top notch, but the emphasis is on the user's experience -- having relaxing fun and reasonable exercise while getting somewhere.I went shopping for an electric bike because I loved the freedom of bicycling but no longer had the strength or endurance to do the rides I wanted to do. A local bike shop salesperson told me they thought they would be selling Pedagos to retirees like me, but they are mostly selling to the commuters, especially the scientists who work at the lab up the hill and people who want to ride to work and not have to clean up. The second group is the spouses and friends of hard core bicyclists. With an electric bike they can go along for the adventure without being a dedicated athlete.The Pedego is a throttle type bike. That means I can peddle as much as I want and add in as much electric motor as I want. I have fun mixing it up. Sometimes I just fly, peddling with the motor up. Sometimes I turn off the motor and peddle. Sometimes I just sit back and let the bike do all the work. Most of the time I peddle with a little motor blended in. The only time I absolutely have to peddle is on a killer hill. It's easy to shift gears and use the throttle to get a good blend going, all using your right hand. The Pedego has one of the strongest motors on the market (500W) and a strong battery. A couple days ago I did a 15 mile ride and the battery never went below fully charged.The Pedego is a bike in the California Beach Cruiser style, which means it has wide high handlebars, a comfortable upright sitting position, and a heavier build for a smooth ride. It's for fun and transportation, from back before bicycling meant leaning forward over a minimal bike in bizarre racing clothes. The pedals are forward from the seat so you do not need to sit so high. You can easily put your feet on the ground. And you can lean back like an easy rider motorcyclist. The style says fun. I get lots of smiles, maybe because I am smiling, and a lot of questions and complements.I compared it to a lot of bikes and test rode what I could. The Pedego had more zip and glide and was light enough for me to put it on my car rack. The Pegego follows the rules so that it is classified as a bicycle instead of a motorized vehicle, which means you can use bike paths and not need insurance etc.Amazon is offering a good looking model at a great price. There are more colors, upgrades, videos, and pictures on the Pedego website.

After all these months of my Cruiser replacing all my transportation needs (except hauling something like a refrigerator that I can order online), I received my second battery (ordered it due to the bike proving its dependability, even self sealing a flat) so now I carry an extra one with me to extend my range. Consequently, I decided to take it for a long overdue endurance test last Sunday morning. The top speed hit 21 mph (measured with a Cateye wireless computer and my Garmin 3490 LMT mounted on the handlebars) with a range of 23 miles on the standard 36v 10amp battery.Pedego, as a company, has out shined any other I know during the months I have owned my Comfort Cruiser. My dual kick stand (and trust me, you do want a dual kick stand on an electric bike as they are all top heavy) was damaged in shipment as I realized three months after it arrived. They replaced it free. Aside from that, they have responded promptly to each and every email sent them.You bet I am a Pedego fan. I have darn good reasons to be so!

I received a Pedego bicycle last November for my birthday. I live in an area with many bike paths, but it's also an area of hills and one of my favorite bike paths is a couple of miles downhill all the way from my house, which makes for a long, hard ride uphill to get home. Enter the Pedego bicycle. The 6 speeds and motor makes hill riding a breeze. I have a basket on the front and panniers on the rear to go to local farmer's markets.I rarely ride it motor mode only. I like to pedal along with the motor and have yet to run down the battery, although when I completed my 12 mile ride the other day, I was at half charge,. This was the first time I've run it down that far. After my 10 mile rides, the battery still shows full. This bicycle has opened up many more areas to me to explore on my Pedego. It is sturdily built and comes with puncture resistant tires standard, with a ballon tire upgrade. I've gotten two stickers in the tires; when I removed them, they sealed right up. The Pedego has plenty of power, but if you want a very fast bike, go for the Pedego Interceptor, which has a larger battery. For my use around town and on bicycle trails, the battery size is perfect.I also own an Electra 7 speed Townie and I seriously considered adding an electric motor kit, but it looked too complicated with a possibly iffy result and no guarantee. The more I read, the less confidence I had in the add-ons. I have had absolutely no problems with my Pedego and highly recommend it.
