Product Description
Electify your ride. The new Currie Electro-Drive Conversion Kit 4 easily transforms a standard bicycle into a modern electric powered bike. The kit offers Currie's proprietary Electro-Drive System that includes a powerful 250-Watt front wheel drive system plus our EV Rated 24V10Ah 240Wh SLA-type Rechargeable Cells, Mounted in a stylish rear rack which also houses all of the motor control electronics. The kit includes one 24V/10Ah SLA battery pack and a Currie Smart charger to recharge the pack. The rack also has a second slot to insert a second, optional battery pack in the event you want to double your travel range. The kit easily installs onto most 26-Inch wheel, mountain or comfort style bicycles The drive wheel is spaced for a standard front fork that is common on many bikes today. If the bike that you are planning on converting has something other then a standard fork or you have a front disc brake, the kit may still be fitted however we strongly recommend that the conversion be made by an authorized Currie Dealer.

I took the kit to a local bike shop for the install and after they got everything put together nothing worked. They investigated it further and found an issue with the controller wiring - I will pick it up tonight and contact Currie Tech and see what they can do about it. In addition to the unit not working the included battery is a 17lb sealed lead acid battery, not a lithium ion as twice stated in the product description. The battery rack is silver and not black like in the picture. I'm out the money for the install and am pretty disappointed that it doesn't work.UPDATE: I picked up the bike and found that there was a severed throttle wire and was able to strip the tips and electrical tape it back together. I still want them to replace it with a new controller at least. The test ride went OK although the heavy SLA brick of a battery on one side made taking corners awkward. Not great overall, but at this point I'll have to live with it.UPDATE #2: I talked to CurrieTech and they are sending a new controller and said there was nothing they could do about the battery since it was amazons fault the description was wrong. I'm now having problems with the charger so I'm going to have to call and see if they can replace it as well. They seem to have very low quality control standards if one kit is giving so many problems out of the box. I'm still going to try to get it going as the problems are huge and hopefully once resolved I'll have close to what I wanted.UPDATE #3: Despite a few problems I got everything worked out. CurrieTech was responsive to the issues and got the replacement parts to me quickly. Overall they made up for everything I had issues with and were easy to deal with over the phone. I still think amazon needs to update the description with correct information but won't deduct from the rating for a mistake that wasn't the manufacturers fault.
