By eEraser
I bought this for my 3 mile commute. This was a terrific solution, but took some effort to make it ready for the road. The quality that went into building the scooter was less than optimal. A lot of the bolts were not tight, the pedals holes did not align with the post the pedals attach to and the gear on the rear wheel was not screwed onto the wheel. These were all items I easily corrected and I was off on my ride. It was a nice ride, the shocks actually work. Turn signals and lights work, but I keep hitting the horn button with my knee! Hehehe. The speedometer does not measure the speed, but rather calculates it and does that poorly. The only real disappointment was with the power of the engine, it took a really long time to get up to speed and this can be an issue in traffic, I can't get out of the way of vehicles especially starting up at intersections. The simple solution for me was to add a 5th battery. After investing $75 for a battery and $75 for a bigger charger, I mounting the new battery under the seat and now it has good pick-up and has a faster top speed. The range is good, I charge every 2 or 3 days and the charger stores easily in under the seat. This is not a perfect product out of the box, but I couldn't live without it now. My new relaxation technique is a cross-town ride on Saturday afternoons on my scooter.

The package could not be tracked as it was not shipped by UPS. I was caught by surprise when and how fast the package arrived at my doorstep. The scooter weighed much more than I had expected it to, and I was happy to have my son assist me in putting the front wheel, especially, and other parts on the scooter (assembly definitely requires two people). The instructions were very poor and the pictures too grainy to be of much use. Assembly, with help, was a little frustrating but actually not too difficult, overall. The electric parts worked as they should; the scooter was pleasant to look at. I took the scooter for a short test drive and was pleased with the power and response of the scooter (I weigh 162 lbs). At this time I would recommend this scooter as a good buy and good transportation for short trips around the city (I am awaiting a pump and a scooter cover before I take the scooter out for short trips). I do wish that I had thought through more about buying a lead-cell battery scooter instead of a li-ion battery scooter, though. I was told by a battery sales person that I couldn't use li-ion battery cells in this scooter so I guess, if what he says is true, that I am stuck with the lead-cell battery.

By Dana R Perkins
We've had our XB-600 for three years, and my wife and I use it a lot for running errands in town and short daily work commutes, up to three and a half miles each way. While cheaply made, it has been very reliable. Better bikes start at around $3,000, but this one does what we want. With a top speed of around 20 mph (slower on hills), keep to the right as if you are a bicycle. Except for the low top speed, it has the features of a larger bike. Check local laws regarding road use, registration, license, etc. It's a good, cheap bike for intown riding, mostly level ground with moderate hills, and relatively short distances. Definitely NOT an open-road bike.
