First this Lithium Battery is only a 6 Amp, the old SLA was a 10 Amp. So the lithium at its best runs like a half charged SLA but for a longer time.Second, mine had a range of 5 miles (with the same weight rider and same path as the SLA with a 10 mile range), but again at half speed. So, you get a half speed and half distance battery.Third, I sent it back as defective, and they claimed that it was in prefect working order and charged me to ship it back.

By Dickstingray
I purchased the lithium battery for Currie in February. The battery does not seem to hold a charge so I contacted the customer service department and I was given a return authorization number and told that I would recieve a prepaid label to send that battery back for service. That was 10 days and two phone calls ago. Tried to contact the customer service for the third time and I was put on hold. I still do not have a shipping label and may not ever get one. I feel their customer service has alot to be desired. They will tell you what you want to hear but they do not follow through. I do like like the bike but the customer service is terrible.

By F. Wise
I bought this to replace the pain-in-the-butt, heavy, maintenance hungry SLA battery that is noticeably slowly dieing from the first day you use it. My experience so far (2 months of use) is good and that the speed and distance of my Trailz bike is the same as when my bike and SLA battery were new but the maintenance is now care-free.I'm pretty sure the SLA batteries are already discontinued and they are just selling them out on the lower priced ebikes until they are gone (why stay with old dead-end technology?). I suspect all bikes by Currie will soon ship with some sort of lithium battery. Lithium is the future and the future is now (finally, I hope). As far as performance goes, I (6 ft tall, 240 lbs on level ground) can get about 6 miles of TAG "Twist-And-Go (that's when you don't pedal at all and essentially have a little motorcycle to cruise around on). With pedaling, I suppose it will last about twice as long.Recharging only takes about 3 hours or less from completely empty to full. My charger was defective (not staying on) so I called Currie and they sent a replacement out pronto at no charge to me. I love that you don't have to drain the battery before recharging - that was a constant problem with the SLA battery. This is so much better. And the weight, what weight? I only gave the battery 4 stars because the battery is too light (maybe 4 pounds). They should have put twice the lithium in it and doubled the range and it would still be much lighter than the SLA battery. I suspect they may come out with a more robust version in the near future and earn a 5 star rating. Are you listening Currie?
